| UDAIPUR
is also known as the "City of Palaces
", a "Fairyland" and a "Vision
in Dream". Udaipur is a jewel of Mewar-
it was ruled by the Sisodia Dynasty for 1200
years. The foundation of the city has an interesting
legend associated with it. It is surrounded
by hills, mountains, and its beautiful palaces
are mirrored in the calm blue water of Lake
Pichola . Udaipur , as the capital of Mewar,
was established by Maharana Udai Singh in
1568, on the advise of a hermit in 1557 A.D.
The lakeside city was built on a small wooded
plain encircled by mountains, which was in
direct contrast to the masculinity of Chittor
and Kumbhalgarh. |

or road. By Air : Indian
Airlines operates flights from Udaipur to
Delhi, Jaipur, Aurangabad, Jodhpur and Mumbai.
By Rail : Udaipur is well
connected to Delhi , Jaipur and Ahmedabad
by train. By Road : There
are many deluxe buses operating from Udaipur
to Jaipur, Ajmer , Kota , Bundi, Jodhpur and
Chittorgarh. |

| City
Palace Museum
: The City Palace
is a very large complex, all originally built
by the Mewar royal family over several hundred
years. The site now contains several museums,
two hotels, and a few restaurants in addition
to the maharana's family residence. |
| Jagdish
Temple: Located 150 metre north of
the entrance to the City Palace, this temple
dedicated to lord Vishnu was built in 1651
AD by Maharaja Jagat Singh.It enshrines a
black stone image of lord Vishnu as Jagannath
- the Lord of the Universe. |

Moti Magri : Moti Mangri
is basically a complex of gardens situated
on the top a hill on the banks of Fateh Sagar
Lake . Its incorporates three beautiful gardens
& a fountain. The view of Fateh Sagar
Lake from Moti Mangri is really amazing. |

: Fateh Sagar Lake
is one of the best lakes in Udaipur . In the
middle of the lake there is a beautiful garden
called Sanjay Park and there is a Solar Observatory
in side the lake. One can enjoy the boat riding

: In the middle
of the Lake Pichola is the Island Palace where
Prince Khurram, later known as Emperor Shah

refuge here when he was in revolt against
