Raja Yoga is the king of Yogas and the Raja means "royal," and the meditation route to Self-Realization is considered to be just this. It is direct and affords the opportunity of experience in different levels of awareness, beginning from where we start to where we are able to conclude after our meditation practice and it also offers a comprehensive method for controlling the waves of thought by turning our mental and physical energy into spiritual energy. Raja Yoga directly concerns with the mind and there is no struggling with Prana or physical body in this Yoga. There are no Hatha Yogic Kriyas in Raja Yoga and the other Raja Yoga starts with the mind and its goal is a complete stilling of the mind, so that the light of the indwelling spirit may shine out.

Here we let you know that, Raja Yogi’s vision is deeply penetrating, because he has gathered all the dissipated rays of the mind by disciplining it through patient Sadhana. A Raja Yogi can get the fully knowledge of either a distant or an internal object, in the twinkling of an eye. His mind is like a powerful searchlight just as the man in the pearl fishery dives deep and brings out the pearl, so also the mind of a Raja Yogin dives deep into an object and brings out its truth in a moment. And the other, there are Eight Limbs of Raja Yoga -

Yamas
The yamas, or restraints are divided into five moral injunctions, aimed at destroying the lower nature :- non-violence, truth, non-stealing, continence and non-avariciousness

Niyamas
The niyamas or observances are also divided into five :- purity, contentment, austerities, study and Ishvarapranidhana (surrender to God)

Asanas
Firm, comfortable meditative posture

Pranayama
The regulation of the breath - forms the second half of Hatha Yoga.

Pratyahara
Abstraction of the senses and mind from objects

Dharana
Concentration - leads to dhyana.

Dhyana
Meditation - culminates in samadhi

Samadhi
Superconscious state or trance

These all eight limbs have been scientifically arranged and dealt with. They are the natural steps in the ladder, which takes a man from his human to the real divine nature. From the gross to the subtle, all the chords that bind the Purusha to Prakriti are cut asunder. This snapping of the ties releases the Purusha to enjoy his Independence, Kaivalya Moksha - this is the goal of Raja Yoga.
