Muzhappilangad,
one of the longest beaches in Kerala
is located 15 kms south of Kannur and
8 km from Thalassery, the beach is bordered
by black rocks, which protects it. Muzhappilangad
Beach with its shallow waters makes
it ideal for swimmers. Kerala’s
long beach is the only drive-in beach
in India where you can drive for a full
4 km, from Kannur to Tellicherry. The
enchanting ambience of the beautiful
Muzhappilangad beach invites one to
swim, sunbathe, or just laze around.
From Muzhappilangad, one can view the
Dharmadam Island or the Green Island.
A remarkable conjunction of beach and
island is just across the Anjarakkandy

The nearest airport to Kannur is at
Karipur in Kozhikode, 95 km away. Kannur
railway station is linked to major towns
within the state as well as the country
as are the roads. |

| The climate of
the state, as in the most of the other
part of India, is tropical. The summer
comes to the state in April and continues
for the next four months. The maximum
temperature during this season is around
33°C. Monsoon touches the state in June
and remains there till September though
not much difference in temperature can
be felt. Winter is from October to January
and temperature drops a bit. The weather
is never too chilly in Kerala. |
