Gir is the
sole natural hub of Asiatic Lions, a major
reason why the park receives a regular inflow
of tourists, making it one of the most visited
national parks in India Just try to pay a
little more attention to the wilds around
you and maybe you'll get more wild surprises
within the Sasangir vicinity, beside the Lion.
The total area under national park status
is about 2,450 hectares. It is located in
the Junagadh District of Gujarat, about 65
km south-east of Junagadh city, and 90 km
east of Keshod Airport, in the Kathiawar (Saurashtra)
Peninsula. Sasan, with a forest rest-house,
is the headquarters of the sanctuary.
Another wild site that offers both Lion and
Tiger safaris is the Nehru Zoological Park
in Hyderabad, In Andhra Pradesh. Parambikulam
Wildlife Sanctuary is another site wildlife
preservation attraction include a Crocodile
Rearing Centre, Deer Farm and a Lion Safari
Park.

Park - Indian Wildlife PortalArrive
by noon at the wildlife resort near
Gir National Park. Rest of the day to
be spent exploring the jungle to watch
the Asiatic Lion. Overnight at the Jungle
Resort. |

02: Gir National Park - Early
morning drive to the jungle for lion
tracking and bird watching. The Gir
forest visits lasts for about three
hours. Return back to the resort for
having breakfast & lunch. One can
also opt to walk around the surroundings
or bird-watch. Afternoon drive back
to the jungle for wildlife viewing.
