Karma
yoga is based on the concept of ‘Karma’,
which is a Sanskrit term, and it refers to
the universal principle of cause and effect.
Karma Yoga means deed or action, including
all acts done by the individual from birth
to death and the other basically consists
of entirely selfless service, in which the
Ego is given up to the desire to serve God
in every thing, be it man, animal or plant.
The performance of actions dwelling in union
with the Divine, removing attachment and remaining
balanced ever in success and failure is -
Karma Yoga and the regular practice of it
prepares the aspirant for the reception of
knowledge of the Self and it makes him a proper
Adhikari (aspirant) for the study of Vedanta.
The Karma Yogi will have to dedicate his actions
at the altar of God with the feeling of Ishvararpana
and he should have non-attachment to the fruits
of actions and non-attachment brings freedom
from fear and sorrow. Honestly, non-attachment
makes a man absolutely bold and fearless,
when he dedicates his actions at the Lotus
Feet of the Lord, he develops devotion to
God and approaches Him nearer and nearer.
He gradually feels that God works directly
through his Indriyas or instruments and feels
no strain or burden in discharge of his works
now. A Karma Yogi should be absolutely free
from anger, lust, greed and egoism and he
is quite at ease. Even if there are traces
of these Doshas, he should try to remove them.
He should not expect any kind of fruits for
his actions herein and hereafter. A karma
yogi should be absolutely free from greed,
anger and egoism. |
