| A popular
site with pilgrims, Galtaji's hilly location
is full of surprising spires and peaks, located
just beyond Sisodia Rani-ka Bagh on Agra Road
is a pretty little pilgrim spot in the state
of Rasjasthan, at a distance of 10 km from
Jaipur. Galta is a holy pilgrimage centre,
having a temple dedicated to Sun God. This
temple is only one of its kind in this part
of the country. It is known maily for its
temples, pavilions, natural springs and holy
'kunds'. The famous temples of the place include
the triple-storied temple of Balaji , which
appeals to the aesthetic sense of the visitors
and is built in pink stone. |
| Galta
is sacred to Hindus mainly because of the
temple dedicated to the Sun god. Here freshwater
spring seeps through the rocks in the otherwise
dry valley. The water keeps the two tanks
fresh. It's an old place of pilgrimage, lying
at the bottom of some hills in a lush landscape
of trees and bushes. It is believed that sage
Galava performed severe penance here. The
temples are intricately and brightly painted
which have images of Vishnu, Brahma, Parvati
and Ganesha. There are friezes showing scenes
from religious festivals and state occasions,
maharajas playing polo, the exploits of Krishna
and the gopis. |

| Galtaji,
which appeals to the aesthetic sense of the
visitors and is built in pink stone. Its magnificent
structure looks more like a palatial mansion
or Haveli or it has a huge complex. Frequented
by a large number of devotees, this beautiful
temple boasts of a number of pavilions with
rounded roofs, painted walls and exquisitely
carved pillars. The temple is surrounded by
natural springs and reservoirs that are considered
holy and people believe that taking a holy
dip in this tanks cleanse one of his sins.

is a pilgrimage centre with several pavilions,
natural springs and the only sun temple in
this part of India . Flower and food may elicit
an unwelcome response from the monkeys. One
needs to be careful here. It is situated in
a valley at a spring supplying two tanks,
the upper one for humans, and the lower one
for monkeys. The lower tank is dedicated to
Hanuman, the Ape God. While performing Poojas,
the temple reverberates with the heavy.noise

| Galta
TempleThe 250 year old Galta temple was built
by Diwan Kriparama who was a loyal courtier
of Sawai Jai Singh II. The temple is located
on top of a high peak and visible from all
parts of Jaipur. According to ancient scriptures,
sage Galav had lived and meditated at the
place. The maintenance of the temple is financed
by the Birla family. |
