Palace is situated in Jaipur, Rajasthan one
of the north Indian State situated to the
west of India . Jaipur was founded by Swai
Jai singh 11 in 1727 A.D. and it is 232 km
from Agra and 300 km from Delhi . |
| About
the Palace |
The
magnificent City Palace is in the centre of
the Pink City of Jaipur or the main palace
is an imposing blend of traditional Rajasthan
and Mughal architecture. Spread over a large
area, the palace enclosed by high walls and
set amidst fine gardens and courtyards. Since
it was built by Jai Singh in 1728 it has been
the principal residence for the Maharajas
of Jaipur and the successive rulers have each
added to it. The complex is a home to several
ornamented building like Chandra Mahal, Badal
Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Shri Govind Dev Temple
and the City Palace museums.
Interesting Feature : The
complex houses a museum that showcases the
grand collection of 2000 weapons that date
back to 1580. It is also a good collection
of Various types of Rajasthani dresses a fascinating
armoury of Mughal and Rajput weapons, swords
of all shapes and sizes, with chased handles,
some of them inlaid, enamelled, encrusted
with jewels and encased in bold and magnificent
scabbards.
Mubarak Mahal : It was Designed
and built by Maharaja Madho Singh, the Mahal
has exceptionally beautiful entrance gate
in marble with equisite carved brass doors
attached to it. The Mahal also has the Diwan-e-Aam
(the hall of public audience) and Diwan-e-Khas
(the Hall of private audience) Decorated with
carvings and Persian manuscripts and Sanskrit.
Chandra Mahal : This elegant
seven-storied building is a residence of the
ex-ruler and houses a beautiful museum, an
armoury and several other rooms. Chandra Mahal
offers panoramic view of the gardens and the
Jaipur city as it is located in the centre
of the city palace . The museum of Maharaja
Sawai Jai Singh holds a huge collection of
arms and weapons of the ancient period.
Badal Mahal : This place
lies parallel to Chandra Mahal and is surrounded
with beautiful gardens. Outside the building
is a large silver vessel, which the Maharaja
used to take on his trips to England to carry
drinking water. |

Jaipur can
be easily accessed through air, train or road.
By Air : Jaipur has
its own airport, and is well connected to
all other tourist and business centres.
By Rail : Jaipur is well
connected to Delhi by Shatabdi Express and
the Pink City Express. Other connections to
Jaipur are from Bikaner , Jodhpur , Udaipur
, Ahemadabad, Secunderabad and Lucknow .
By Road : A network of reasonably
comfortable tourist buses, run by road corporations
of Rajasthan, Haryana and others. |
| Climate |
| Jaipur has
got extreme climate. Summers are invariably
hot and winters are not very cold. Best time
to visit from October to March, when the weather
remains cool and tolerable. |
